Jeff Gordon has been eluded by the Indianapolis 500 and will only be participating in the race by being at the helm, driving the pace car.
Gordon, who announced his retirement from the sport upon the ending of this season has said that participating in the race as a driver will not be a reality. Gordon has won the Sprint Cup four times during his career.
Gordon has admitted publicly that he has longed to participate in the race due to its significance, but says it will never happen.
Jeff Gordon was selected to drive the lead car and guide the racers by Chevrolet. The pace car is the Chevrolet Corvette.
